Shade Hotel Manhattan Beach is looking for a responsible and energetic Front Desk Agent /Night Auditor.
We are looking for someone that can work Thursday & Friday as a front desk agent (PM shifts) and Night Audit/Valet on Saturdays and Sundays.

THIS JOB IS FOR YOU IF YOU:
- Provide and maintain the highest standard of guest care and service.
- Ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and grooming at all times.
- Keep the uniform well pressed and in a good state of repair.
- Demonstrate required standards of performance.
- Handle guest complaints or problems promptly & ensure that all problems are reported to the duty manager.
- Uphold company, hotel and statutory rules, regulations and policies at all times
- High knowledge of fire prevention to ensure that you and all staff on duty follow hotel evacuation procedures.
- Security conscious with respect to guest/ staff/ hotel property/ welfare and to report suspicious circumstances to the Hotel Manager.
- Report damage to furniture, fittings and equipment to management.
- Keep the department area well maintained in a safe, hygienic and presentable state.
- Write routine reports and correspondence in English, preferably multilingual.
- Communicate, present information & respond to questions from Owner, investors, purveyors, guests, customers, the general public, and/or all staff members.
- Add, subtract, multiply & divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Compute rate, ratio and percent.
- Familiar with the local area and surrounding cities. Able to give directions and recommendations for local businesses, restaurants and tourist areas.
- Ability and willingness to work any shifts, including weekends and holidays, with no guaranteed set schedule and likely spilt days off, possibly working fewer than and/or more than the expected hours per week as business volume dictates.

WHAT YOU WILL DO: (Other duties may also be assigned)
- Maximize revenue by selling top rates & other services.
- Keep current with property descriptions, room types, amenities, décor, rates, as well as packages & promotions.
- Accept, process room reservations, greet guests, register, assign rooms to incoming guests and check out departing guests.
- Keep accurate records of current and future room availability & guests’ accounts.
- Compute bills, collect payments and makes changes for guests
- Receive, transmit messages and mail for guests and company
- Assist guests with area information, restaurant reservations, room service and special requests
- Use excellent guest relations, telephone, computer and room sales skills
- Extraordinary items which may require follow up, including potential safety hazards; bring to the attention of Management.
- Works closely with Housekeeping- notifying this department of late checkouts, room moves, early check-ins and special requests.
- Recording and making wakeup calls during shift, ensuring follow up call is made for each wake-up call.
- Responsible for early morning hotel preparations, including dining room, office set up and deliveries to guest rooms.
- Periodic building walk-thru during the night, to ensure the security of the building and guests.
- Use equipment and materials in a safe and acceptable manner, follow safety procedures, appropriate safeguards and observe common sense rules of safety in all on-the-job activities.
- Conduct self in a manner reflecting Shade Hotel and encourage others to do the same. Report any suspicious guest or staff behavior to Management.
- Carry out Receptionist/ Cashier duties during hours of duty.
- Run end of day procedures & reset the system for the following day.
- Make sure that the end of day cash and check banking balances.
- Run and distribute the Night Audit reports
- Report errors during the Night Audit, log in accordance to the Front Office Standard of Procedures Manual, and make the Staff Accountant aware of the situation.
- Respond to guests' complaints with the established policies for resolution.
- Assist in other departments to ensure a smooth operation, whenever necessary during hours of duty.
- Attend meetings as directed by Management.
- · Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

· The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
· Frequently required to stand, walk, and go up and down stairs. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb up and down stairs or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
· The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
· The employee, on occasion, will need to operate vehicles, both automatic and manual transmission, and manage the valet drive.
